How Do You Build The Foundation of Your Business Model?
The art of building a business model is no different than building a brick wall. You do it one brick at a time! Now I know from experience that building a brick wall takes more that just a desire to have a wall. You must plan and visualize, and that is the first step in creating anything.
The foundation of a business model starts with your reason for wanting a business. Just like laying bricks or stones you can create anything you desire with the same materials. You can build a brick retaining wall or a stone fireplace. The materials are the same in both, what you build out of those bricks or stones is up to you! It is all about your dreams and thoughts of what you want to build. Creating a business model is no different, the materials to create your business model are everywhere, you just need to choose what interests you.
You are the Architect of Your Business Model!
The first step in your business model is to create your “why” this is much the same as making a decision to build a wall or a fireplace. That is the end result of your desire. Why do you want a business? The most common answer is to “make money” I know I thought that in the beginning. I thought that if I only have enough money all will be well. That is where looking for the next best opportunity had me stuck! I had to change my thinking.
Please hang with me here on this thought. How much time do you spend watching television? This is the biggest waste of time in America today. I disabled the cable about ten months ago, and that was when thing began to change for me. I know that our economy isn’t great right now, but will hours of watching the news everyday make the economy better? I think not. The media sure doesn’t give a damn about your business model or your success. Change your thoughts and you will change your life!
You must decide Why you are working as the first step in your business model!
This is a picture of my two oldest grandsons. This picture is a few years old, and looking at it makes my “Why” that much stronger. They have been raised by my oldest daughter for many years now. They have done quite well together in spite of their situation. They live in Wisconsin and I am in California. I work so that I can do what I can to be a part of their lives, and make trips to see them more often. Reasons like spending time with my Daughters and my grand kids became a cornerstone of the foundation of my business model!
My oldest grandson Riley is going to attend a kids architecture workshop in August at Taliesin in Spring Green, WI. I am so excited for him to be able to attend. Frank Lloyd Wright created an amazing school at Taliesin, and my grandson gets to experience some of that history in August! As far as I am concerned making that available to him is part of my business model in the most profound way!
