Creating a Strategic Plan as a College Assignment.

How do I write a strategic plan for my College Assignment?

My College assignment is to create a strategic plan that will convince a Rural town in Iowa that will present to the community that “Grand Casino” will fulfill it’s social responsibility. I am struggling with this college assignment in many ways.

My first reaction was, “I don’t want to do this!” I think casinos are destroying our country. I don’t see that any of them really give a hoot about social responsibility!

This college assignment is for my Small Business and Marketing Class

I remember now why I didn’t do so great in school… I have always been a very stubborn individual. I have never seen the value in “critical thinking” type college assignments. I’m a common sense kinda guy… I know what it takes to get a job done.

I don’t spend a lot of time thinking and evaluating… I’m the worker, and that really is where I have let myself down. Wow, as I right this blog post and see these words in “black and white” I am able to really see the value in this “college assignment!

This task of doing a college assignment is quite enlightening!

I was meeting with one of my “coaches” last night, and he encouraged me to do this blog post about my feelings about doing this college assignment. I was complaining to him at first, and he explained to me that these college assignments are designed to make you think differently.

I have never been open to “thinking differently” very often in my life, and in many cases (more than I care to admit!) it has not served me well.

This injury I had in June 2009 has been a huge blessing for me! Look at me now… I am going to write a paper about the “positive” side of something I am against! What a powerful college assignment this will be. Just think…. If I can write a strategic plan that is powerful for something I am against, writing a strategic plan for my own businesses will be a cinch for me!

I am so proud of myself for taking the initiative to get a coach, participate in a mastermind group, and return to college because I want to. I am truly grateful to all of the people that keep encouraging me… they all are teaching me that doing something as simple as a college assignment can make a huge difference in my thinking, even if I don’t agree with the topic!
